What’s The Cleaning Hype With Dish Soap?

You’ll often hear about using a mild dish soap as an initial primary cleaning step with warm water. Even better if it’s plant based. Why is that?

For starters it’s environmentally friendly. Then it’s also a pH neutral option which means *drum roll* it’s safe for multiple surfaces! Traditional cleaners contain harmful chemicals not only for the environment, but for the user. Breathing them in or getting them on your skin can be toxic and applying them on a sensitive surface can damage and etch those surfaces especially stone. Some people are more sensitive to these chemicals and depending on the cleaner or the brand they will vary. Due to this we will not list chemicals here. The focus of this is why a mild (preferably plant based) dish soap is a great option.

So what can you use it on? Many things, even granite! Utilizing a mild dish soap with warm water and vinegar can be used as a glass cleaner. More on vinegar in the next post because that is a topic all on its own!

Cleaning and disinfecting are not the same thing. Cleaning is the actual act of removing dirt, dust, debris from the surface vs disinfecting which is the removal of microorganisms from the surface. Using a mild dish soap and warm water will help remove the dirt, dust, debris, spills and more safely from the surface. It breaks down grease and food spills with ease. It works to disintegrate soap scum in a similar manner making it an eco friendly go to for bathroom cleaning.

Bathrooms, kitchens, windows and mirrors, wall marks and even light carpet stains, warm water and dish soap are your friend! That’s the hype! It’s natural, it’s versatile and it’s affordable. Toss harmful chemicals to the curb with a more natural alternative today. We are at the point in this series where we’re covering your natural alternatives. Up next? VINEGAR!
