The Cleanup Club - Litter Clean Up
To celebrate a decade since our founding, Dee’s Green Cleaning partnered with The Cleanup Club, a local non-profit focused on educating people about Great Lakes plastic pollution, to host a litter clean up where we not only helped keep a large amount of trash from our fresh waters, but we also helped spread positive information on how small changes can lead to great progress when it comes to consumption, plastic use, and methods to help ensure we put waste in it’s place.
We had almost 30 amazing volunteers join us to clean an astounding 275lbs of trash from along the Clinton River Spillway & part of Lake St Clair. This area is super important to keep clean because of how populated the surrounding areas are, and also because these water ways feed into our Great Lakes - the worlds largest supply of freshwater.
We also wanted to encourage people to plant native species to help support our pollinators and other important wildlife, while having fun, so we gave away several native plants including Echinacea, Nodding Onion, and more to lucky volunteers at the end.
We are so appreciative to all the volunteers who helped with this cleanup, and to everyone who couldn’t make it, but did their own cleanup inspired by ours. Small acts add up to make a big difference and we wouldn’t be able to make the impact we have without the efforts of each individual.
